Information
Size:
This new, high-impact license plate frame is made to
fit MOST cars & MOST standard U.S.
license plates with state name and tags/stickers on
top. The frame itself is manufactured of glass-filled
nylon, and the lens is a clear, UV protective polycarbonate.
It has outside dimensions of 12-1/4" wide x 6-1/4"
high, and an opening for the license-plate-viewing area
11-3/8" wide x 4-1/8" high with two screw
holes at the top to hold plate. The message area measures
1.375" in height total.
Screws are not provided, but can be ordered separately.
If your state name or tags/stickers are at the bottom
of the license plate, this frame will cover them, but
it can be flipped so that the message appears at the
top, which may work in some states.
Installation:
To mount on your vehicle:
- Remove the screws holding your license plate to
the vehicle.
- Place the TrafficTalker® over the license plate
so that the top holes match up with the top holes
of the license plate.
- Insert the original screws through the holes in
the frame and the license plate and attach to the
vehicle.
For states where the state name is on the bottom of
the license plate, simply turn the frame over and use
it upside down so the message strip appears at the top
(turn the message strip around, too!).
There is no need to remove the frame or license plate
from the vehicle to change your message strip.
Message strips:
Make your own!
The message strip area will accommodate a flat insert
(made of paper, cardstock, fabric, etc.) up to 12pt
thick, measuring up to 1.125 x 11.625 (if you plan to
use self-adhesive laminating strips, see additional
information on sizes).
By hand:
Draw or write out your message on paper or cardstock,
or any other thin, flat material and cut it to size.
Clip a newspaper or magazine headline, use photos, drawings,
anything that fits.
- Draw a box that is 11.625 wide by 1.125 tall. If
laminating your message, make it slightly smaller,
11.5 wide by 1 tall.
- Be creative, and have fun, make it colorful and
striking, but remember to keep your lettering large
so it can be seen from a distance. Bright colors and
simple sayings work best.
- Cut your creation out around the outside edges,
and insert it into the display area of the frame.
On the computer: Set up a file using any computer
program with our measurements as a guide, and you
can print your own message strips in full color or
black and white.
For printers that use 8.5 X 11 paper only:
- Using any page layout or drawing program, set up
a file that is 11 wide by 8.5 tall.
- Draw a box that is 10.5 wide by 1.125 tall. If you
plan on laminating your message, make it slightly
smaller, 10.375 wide by 1 tall. (skip to step 3)
For printers with larger paper capacity:
- Set up a file that is landscape 8.5 X 14 or 11 X
17, depending on the size of your paper.
- Draw a box that is 11.625 wide by 1.125 tall. If
laminating your message, make it slightly smaller,
11.5 wide by 1 tall.
- Now, just go to town! Fill the box with color, add
clip art, photos, type in anything you want. Just
remember to keep your letters at least 3/4 high, so
that others will be able to read what you have to
say!
Bright colors and simple sayings work best.
- Print your messages out. Every printer is different,
so make sure you preview your image before printing
it out, and make sure your paper is set up to print
³landscape, so your message prints without getting
cut off.
- Cut your creation out around the outside edges,
and insert it into the display area of the frame.
