Pull over bumper stickers, the TrafficTalker is
on the road!
The idea of adhering a permanent message to one's car
took an exit from popularity when people began purchasing
and leasing new vehicles more frequently. But everyone
still feels a need to share their opinions and passions,
maybe more so in heightened patriotic times. So how
else can we "speak to" an audience of thousands
of eyes on the roads and in parking lots? Jonathan Burr,
an inventor in Connecticut, designed the answer: The
TrafficTalker®.
Engineering an Idea
Jonathan Burr, a native of Granby, CT, had the idea
to come up with an alternative to conventional bumper
stickers in 1998. He knew people had a penchant to express
themselves on their cars, but he also knew people were
increasingly resistant to stick something permanent
to their brand new car bumper. At the same time, he
began to notice more and more cars were sporting license
plate frames and holders with dealer ads on them. As
Jonathan wondered whether all those new car owners were
such completely satisfied customers that they actually
intended to advertise the dealers (doubtful), he began
to connect conventional bumper stickers with license
plate frames, and an idea started brewing. Hence, the
birth of The Traffic Talker®.
Patent-pending design, construction offers the
advantage
Unlike traditional license plate frames that are pre-formed
or silk-screened with permanent letters and logos to
advertise a merchant, and conventional glued bumper
stickers that may spout a special interest, TrafficTalker®
offers drivers a way to both display their own personal
messages and change them... whenever they want to, with
no special tools or hardware, and without having to
remove the frame from the vehicle. Needing just simple
do-it-yourself installation, the TrafficTalker®
is a license plate holder with a message area featuring
a clear, flip-down cover. Drivers (and even passengers!)
can easily insert, remove and change messages under
the cover using printed
mini-banners. Now when drivers change their minds, they
can broadcast their message on their car as easily and
quickly as they can change lanes!
Partnering with Connecticut Business Resources
Since developing the initial concept, Jonathan teamed
with his wife and business partner, Lisa (Mingel) Burr
a native of New Britain, CT, to bring the new product
to market. Over the past few years, the Burrs have worked
with Connecticut state programs. Aptly named Traffic
Talker®, it is now ready to enter the marketplace,
and is hitting the road at top speed.
So that's right, race fans (or fans of anything, for
that matter)! Activists and zealots, grandmas and golfers
can all find a new, convenient way to express themselves
on the expressway, with the Original, One and Only,
TrafficTalker®.
